Anorganische Molekülchemie

What it is about

You will learn the molecular chemistry of inorganic compounds: structure, bonding, and bonding situations of the nonmetals, main group elements and transition metals, as well as the peculiarities of lanthanides/actinides. In the end you will be able to describe typical structures and reactivities, plan syntheses and situate technical manufacturing procedures.

What you will be able to do

• Apply models for describing structure and bonding (valence bond and qualitative MO theory, crystal-/ligand-field model)
• Understand the regularities of the periodic table for main group elements
• Know chemical properties and applications of important inorganic molecular compounds
• Plan syntheses and assess reactivities
• Independently access Fachliteratur (specialist literature) for deepening understanding
• Critically apply acquired knowledge in the experimental laboratory
