Waste and Waste Water Treatment

What it is about

You will learn the basics and procedures of waste and wastewater treatment. In the end you will be able to assess different treatment processes, determine suitable disposal or treatment options for various types of waste and wastewater, and evaluate emission sources as well as measures for emission reduction.

What you will be able to do

• Understand the necessity and goals of waste management
• Know important processes and technologies of waste treatment
• Be able to select suitable treatment processes for different waste types
• Recognize sources and types of emissions from waste treatment and understand mitigation measures
• Classify the necessity and feasibility of municipal wastewater treatment
• Classify the individual steps of wastewater purification (e.g., removal of coarse matter, organic/inorganic pollutants)
• Reproduce important treatment processes and their requirements
• Evaluate advantages and disadvantages of different technologies
