AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn the fundamentals of nanofabrication and nanotechnology as well as requirements for nanoscale systems. Using current examples (e.g. logic, storage, hard drives) and measurement methods you will learn how nanosystems are characterized, fabricated and scaled. In the laboratory project you will apply measurement techniques (e.g. VNA, lock‑in) and link theory and practice.

What you will be able to do

  • Evaluate nanodevices and their system integration
  • Assess various physical effects for applications in nanosystems
  • Estimate the scalability of physical effects for system formation
  • Scientifically document and present experimental results
  • Analyze measurement data and present it graphically

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungDelivery of the theoretical background on operation and properties of nanosystems
  • Labor/Praktikum (hands‑on)Practical measurement and metrology of magnetic thin‑film devices in small groups

Teaching method

  • Präsentationen (PowerPoint)Introduction and structuring of theory content
  • Discussion and questions in the lectureDeepening and clarification of concepts
  • Skript and whiteboardSupport for understanding and derivations
  • Hands‑on laboratory work in small groupsDirect application of measurement methods and linking theory with practice
