Inventory Management

What it is about

You learn fundamental models and methods of inventory management for one- and multi-period, multi-echelon, and multi-product systems. In the end you will be able to select appropriate control rules, calculate parameters, analyze the effects of costs and service parameters, and implement simple data-driven inventory decisions.

What you will be able to do

• Knowledge of different Inventory-Control rules
• Identification of suitable models in different business contexts
• Calculation and reproducibility of model parameters
• Analysis of the influence of cost and service parameters on order timing and quantities
• Generalization to multi-echelon and multi-product systems
• Evaluation, comparison and optimization of control systems
• Development and implementation of new models for practice-oriented problems (e.g., same‑day delivery, car sharing, reverse logistics)
