What it is about

In this module you will learn to understand mobility systems, map them with data and models, and design new solutions. In the end you will be able to analyze mobility demand, model, compare and evaluate CASE solutions (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electrified) with regard to economic, ecological and social impacts.

What you will be able to do

  • assess temporo-spatial mobility demand and collect/analyze it for target regions
  • know and model current mobility happenings and CASE solutions
  • quantify the economic, ecological and social impacts of mobility
  • evaluate new mobility solutions economically on the basis of full costs
  • design mobility concepts and test them in simulation
  • practically apply methods in the Campus Mobility Lab and integrate them into group work
  • present results concisely and work interdisciplinary in teams

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungDelivery of theoretical foundations, discussion of transfer questions and guest lecture
  • ÜbungImplementation of concepts in Jupyter notebooks, live programming and data analysis
  • Campus Mobility Lab (semester-long project)Group project applying all methods; developing a solution for Campus Garching and creating a poster

Teaching method

  • Lecture with slides and tablet PCExplanation of theoretical foundations and moderation of discussions
  • Interactive questions during the lecturePromotion of transfer and discussion of solutions
  • Exercises with Jupyter notebooks and PythonPractical implementation of concepts and analysis of real datasets
  • Semester-long group project (Campus Mobility Lab)Application of learned methods to a real location, promotion of teamwork and integration of results
  • Voluntary data collection via smartphone appEnables working with own anonymized mobility data for project planning
