What it is about

You learn to formulate decision problems as mathematical optimization models and to solve them with suitable algorithms. The module covers classical OR methods (e.g. linear and mixed-integer programming, network flows, dynamic programming) as well as decision analysis under uncertainty (decision trees, multi-criteria decision making). In the end you can compute solutions with standard software and interpret the results.

90-minute written exam. A non-programmable pocket calculator is allowed. In the exam you answer questions, apply algorithms, model small example problems mathematically and discuss results. The module grade is fully based on the exam result.
