What it is about
You will learn the fundamentals of therapeutic and diagnostic medical technology based on selected organ systems (skin, sense organs especially the eye, cardiovascular system, musculoskeletal and movement system). You will understand the relevant anatomical-physiological fundamentals, typical disease patterns and common medical-technical diagnostic and therapeutic approaches and you will be able to apply this knowledge to medical-technical questions.
What you will be able to do
- Basic knowledge in anatomy of the treated organ systems
- Basic knowledge in physiology of the treated organ systems
- Basic knowledge in pathology of the treated organ systems
- Understanding of the functional principles of medical-technical diagnostic and therapeutic solutions
- Knowledge on the deployment of medical-technical solutions in clinical settings
- Ability to apply the knowledge to independent medical-technical developments
What the module consists of
- LectureConveying the theoretical foundations (anatomy, physiology, pathology, functional principles) including visual support through videos; lecture materials are provided online.
- ExerciseDeepening through clinical references, e.g. OR observing and discussions with clinical experts; opportunity for questions in one-on-one or small group settings.
Teaching method
- Frontal lectureStructured conveyance of the theoretical foundations and alignment of the knowledge level with inserts to basic knowledge.
- Video sequencesVisual support to illustrate the content.
- E-Learning (Moodle)Provision of slides and additional information for follow-up study.
- OR observations / clinical demonstrationsCreating a link to the real clinical environment and consolidating knowledge through live demonstrations and discussions.
- Q&A sessionsClosing knowledge gaps and deepening individual areas of interest.
