Flight Guidance

What it is about

You learn the technical fundamentals of flight guidance in civil aviation: structure of the cockpit, the functioning of onboard instruments as well as ground facilities and air traffic control technology. In the end you will be able to describe the measurement and navigation systems in use, assess their reliability and accuracy, and evaluate the operational aspects of these facilities.

What you will be able to do

• Understand the structure and function of aircraft cockpits and instruments
• Explain the operating principles of measurement probes and navigation facilities
• Know different navigation procedures and systems as well as their sources of error
• Assess onboard and ground installations in terms of reliability and accuracy
• Know the basics of air traffic control technology (radar, communication)
• Classify operational and regulatory aspects of flight guidance facilities
