What it is about
You will learn methods and techniques for experimental measurements in the wind tunnel with application to wind turbines. You will learn how wind tunnel models of wind turbines are scaled and designed, including aerodynamics, electro-mechanical setup, as well as sensor and data acquisition. In the end you will be able to analyze measurement data from wind tunnel experiments and make statements about performance and wake behavior of wind turbines.
What you will be able to do
- Fundamental understanding of wind channels and measurement methods
- Design and scaling of wind turbine models
- Design of aerodynamic and electro-mechanical components
- Design of onboard sensor systems and data acquisition
- Processing and analysis of measurement data from wind tunnel tests
What the module consists of
- Workshoppractical introduction and handling of the assignments; hands-on work in the wind tunnel
Teaching method
- Lecture with/without PCConveying basics and techniques
- Handouts / lecture materialsDeepening and reference work
- Exercises / AssignmentsApplication of what has been learned in practical tasks
