AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn how to measure and analyze people’s behavior toward mobility policies using surveys, stated-choice experiments, and econometric models. In the end you will be able to design your own surveys with discrete choice experiments, collect data, and analyze them with discrete choice models to derive policy-relevant conclusions.

What you will be able to do

  • Describe existing approaches to measuring and modeling (travel) behavior
  • Select and conceptualize suitable methodological approaches for concrete policy questions
  • Prepare, conduct, and analyze a survey and a discrete choice experiment
  • Analyze strengths and weaknesses of different methods under varying conditions
  • Derive political recommendations from surveys and models and name their limitations
  • Present results understandably and summarize them in a scientific report

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungIntroduction to stated-choice experiments and econometric modeling for the analysis of mobility policy
  • Übung / ProjektSemester-long project: development, execution and evaluation of an online survey with a discrete choice experiment

Teaching method

  • VorlesungConveying the theoretical foundations of surveys, discrete choice experiments and econometric models
  • Projektarbeit mit ÜbungPractical application: design your own experiment, collect data and analyze with econometric methods
  • Statistisches Programmieren in RTo practically perform data analysis and model estimation
  • PräsentationenPractice presenting results to a professional audience
