What it is about

You receive a broad insight into the construction fundamentals of modern tractors with a strong practical focus. You will learn historical development, overall structure and individual assemblies (e.g. transmission, axles, hydraulics) and apply technical basics to calculations. In the end you can describe the function, limits and design requirements of tractors and solve simple design problems.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand tractor field and market as well as the development process
  • Analyze the function of engines, transmissions, axles, brakes and hydraulics
  • Describe technical requirements for solutions for mobile working machines
  • Apply basic principles of operational safety, ergonomics and process control
  • Solve simple design tasks with known mathematical/physical models

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungConveying the subject fundamentals, historical classification, product planning and project management as well as the theory on assemblies
  • ÜbungenApplication of theoretical fundamentals in calculations and case studies; handling given tasks with supervision
  • Praktische FeldtageLearning on the device and practical examples with agricultural machinery (two practical days during the course)

Teaching method

  • Vortrag/Präsentation/Skizzenfor structured delivery of content and visualization of relationships
  • Übungsaufgaben im Seminarto consolidate theoretical concepts through calculations and case work
  • Praktische Übungen/Feldtageto create a link to practice and experience machine knowledge directly
  • Moodle/Script/Learning QuestionsProvision of materials and questions for self-preparation
  • Sprechstunde der Assistenzindividual support for understanding and exercise questions
