AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You work in small interdisciplinary teams on real application problems from science or industry. You model, analyze and solve these problems with modern numerical methods and present the results scientifically (poster, talk, short paper). In the end you can mathematically model complex applications, select appropriate algorithms, implement them and communicate scientifically.

What you will be able to do

  • mathematical analysis and model building also for demanding application problems
  • assessment and selection of different solution procedures
  • implementation of numerical algorithms with contemporary tools
  • evaluation of the solution in the realistic application context
  • interdisciplinary teamwork
  • scientific presentation: poster, talk, short paper

What the module consists of

  • ProjektarbeitWorking on a practical problem in groups, including modeling, implementation and evaluation
  • PräsentationenInterim and final presentations to communicate progress and results
  • Schriftlicher BerichtFinal documentation of the project results in the form of a short scientific paper

Teaching method

  • Betreute Projektarbeit in Kleingruppento practically go through the complete solution chain (modeling, analysis, implementation, evaluation)
  • Zwischenfeedback und Poster-Sessionfor peer feedback, discussion and improvement of presentation skills
  • Vorträge zu Präsentationstechniken und ergänzende Materialiento support scientific presentation and, if needed, subject-specific deepening
  • Interdisziplinäre Kooperation (wenn möglich)to learn teamwork with partners from other faculties, institutes or industry
