IN2366B Elective Modules9 ECTSEnglishsummer semesterDepartment Computer Science
AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn the fundamentals of multi-dimensional analysis as well as techniques of mathematical modeling and simulation. In the end you will be able to apply multidimensional derivatives, partial differential equations and integration methods, derive simple formal models (mathematical or computational) from verbal tasks, and select and implement suitable simulation strategies.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand the basic concepts of multi-dimensional analysis
  • Apply partial derivatives and partial differential equations
  • Develop and evaluate mathematical modeling processes
  • Know and apply discrete and continuous model classes
  • Select simulation strategies and use them for computational solutions
  • Develop your own solution methods for simple scenarios

What the module consists of

  • Block lecture on multi-dimensional analysisConveys the basics of analysis of several variables prior to the lecture
  • LecturePresentation of modeling and simulation topics
  • Supporting exerciseWorking on examples and group work for deepening

Teaching method

  • Lecture/Presentationfor introduction and structuring of the content
  • Group work exercisesfor addressing concrete questions and deepening understanding
  • Self-study (literature work)for independent deepening of the topics
