Master's Thesis

What it is about

You work independently on a research or application question in the area of Big Data / Data Science, which can be theoretical-mathematical or practical. You model the problem with mathematical methods, acquire the necessary background knowledge, implement algorithms if needed or compare procedures, and document the results scientifically. In the end you can justify the solution, assess its limits, and present your thoughts clearly.

What you will be able to do

• Self-reliant familiarization with a data-science problem
• Applying mathematical and computer-science-specific methods
• Developing the necessary mathematics/computer science background
• Recognizing relevant mathematical structures
• Developing and evaluating solution ideas
• Scientific presentation and communication of results

• Master's ThesisMain component: independent work on a research/application question in the area of Big Data
• Mündlicher Vortrag / BetreuungsgesprächPresentation of the interim status or result (30–45 minutes) or equivalent advisory discussions
