What it is about

You will learn how qualitative research questions in Science and Technology Studies (STS) are theoretically grounded and methodologically thought out. In the module you will practice developing hypotheses, linking different theoretical approaches and methods, and visually presenting an integrated theoretical framework. In the end you can independently create a conceptual research plan for an STS topic and present it in a creative visualization.

What you will be able to do

  • theoretically informed research questions formulate
  • construct hypotheses
  • operationalize research questions
  • intertwine different methods and tools
  • design integrated theoretical models

What the module consists of

  • GruppenprojektDevelopment and design of an STS research plan in several steps (literature review, conceptual analysis, integrated theoretical framework)
  • PräsentationPresentation of the visual integrated theoretical framework at the closing event

Teaching method

  • Simulation des Peer-Review-Prozessesto practice research and feedback routines
  • Gruppenarbeitfor collaborative development of the research plan
  • Podiumsdiskussionen/Paneldebattenfor critical engagement with theories and concepts
  • Visuelle Hilfsmittel und künstlerische Formatefor creating and presenting the integrated theoretical framework
  • Kontinuierliches Feedback durch die Dozierendenfor iterative improvement of the work
