What it is about
You will learn the physical and chemical foundations of nanoscale matter at the transition from atom to solid as well as their applications in catalysis. In the end you will be able to explain manufacturing routes, size-dependent properties and experimental characterization of clusters and nanoparticles and apply this knowledge to catalytic questions.
What you will be able to do
- Understand the production of clusters
- Analyze size-dependent properties
- Apply experimental characterization (diffraction, spectroscopy, microscopy)
- Assess differences between elementary, heterogeneous and supported clusters
- Develop your own proposals for the production, characterization and application of clusters
- Critically evaluate scientific literature and transfer it to new catalytic applications
