AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn the fundamentals of coded cryptography: relevant terms from algebraic coding theory, cryptographic basic concepts and complexity theory as well as central problems and systems such as Syndrome Decoding, Information Set Decoding, Code Equivalence, McEliece and Niederreiter. In the end you will be able to name several code-based cryptosystems and attacks, analyze a system and estimate the costs of an attack, as well as evaluate the use cases and apply the knowledge to examples.

What you will be able to do

  • Name several code-based cryptosystems
  • Name common attacks on code-based systems
  • Analyze a system and estimate the attack costs
  • Know use cases of code-based cryptography
  • Apply methods to concrete examples
