What it is about

You learn advanced concepts of digital signal processing for single- and multidimensional signals and how to apply them. Topics include 2D/multidimensional signals and systems, filter design, linear block transforms, wavelets/filter banks, as well as inverse problems and applications in media processing. In the end you can switch between time/space and frequency representations, select suitable representations, and solve problems both analytically and with Matlab.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand the differences and similarities between 1D and multidimensional DSP
  • Apply multidimensional Fourier transforms (continuous and discrete)
  • Choose representations of digital signals for manipulation and resolution adjustment
  • Design and analyze two-dimensional and multidimensional filters
  • Analyze linear block transforms, filter banks and discrete wavelet transforms
  • Derive lifting implementations of filter banks
  • Address inverse problems for multidimensional signals
  • Implement concepts in Matlab
