What it is about

You will learn the fundamentals of quantum communication and how entangled particle pairs can be used as a resource in communication networks. In the end you will be able to use theoretical models and practical exercises with the Python-based network simulator QuNetSim to analyze and optimize TCP/IP networks with quantum communication.

What you will be able to do

  • Mathematical representation of qubits and the basic postulates of quantum mechanics
  • Fundamental effects of quantum information theory (e.g. superdense coding, teleportation)
  • BB84 security protocol and graph states
  • Entanglement routing and entanglement-assisted reduction of interference
  • Relations between quantum communication effects and TCP/IP network structure
  • Application of the network simulator QuNetSim for implementation and simulation of protocols
  • Analysis of communication systems for potential benefits of quantum communication

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungVermittlung der theoretischen Grundlagen
  • ÜbungVertiefung durch Aufgaben, Rechenbeispiele und Demonstration von Algorithmen in QuNetSim

Teaching method
