What it is about

In this module you will learn how socio-economic aspects can be modeled in energy systems. You will be given methods (cellular automata, agent-based models, network and sociodynamics) and you can apply them to simple examples as well as write corresponding code.

What you will be able to do

  • identify complex socio-economic systems in the energy sector
  • explain fundamentals of quantitative modeling techniques
  • apply methods to simple examples
  • create simple codes for the use cases
  • apply AI to support understanding and coding

What the module consists of

  • LectureTransmission of methodological fundamentals and overview of topics; accompanied by slides and literature
  • ExercisesDeepening through calculations and experimental work on provided programs
  • Program examplesContinuous implementation of simple examples in Python for illustration and practice

Teaching method

  • Lecture slides and literatureExplanation of theoretical fundamentals
  • Practical implementation in PythonMakes concepts accessible and shows practical application
  • Accompanying exercisesSolidification through calculations and development of the examples
  • Use of modern AI techniquesSupport for understanding and coding
  • MoodleCentral provision of materials, sample code and literature
