AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn the analysis of signals in time and frequency as well as methods for their approximation using frames. In the end you will know Fourier- and wavelet-like transformations, principles of uncertainty, the basics of frame theory and Gabor frames as well as frame-based reconstruction methods and you will be able to apply these to concrete signal and image analysis tasks.

What you will be able to do

  • Analysis of signals in time and frequency
  • Understanding of Fourier- and Voice-Transforms
  • Knowledge of uncertainty principles
  • Foundations of frame theory
  • Gabor frames and their properties
  • Application of frame-based reconstruction methods

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungTransmission of content through lectures and demonstrative examples; discussions to stimulate own analyses
  • Übung/Practice sessionsDeepening of content through exercises with solutions; initially under supervision, later increasingly independent work

Teaching method

  • VorlesungPresentation of content, demonstrations and discussion to contextualize the topics
  • Übungsblätter mit ÜbungseinheitenApplication and deepening of lecture material, self-check of learning progress
