What it is about

You work on a smaller, demanding mathematical question from current or cross-disciplinary topics in mathematics. In the end you can independently work out the topic from relevant literature, place the results in a professional context, and present them to an audience in a structured manner.

What you will be able to do

• Comprehension and structured handling of a mathematical specialist question
• Independent familiarization with scientific literature
• Presentation of complex mathematical content in an understandable and vivid way
• Assessment and embedding of the results in the mathematical context
• Participation and contribution to the scientific discourse

What the module consists of

• Pre-briefingAssignment of the lecture topic and provision of the related literature
• Independent work (self-study)Intensive immersion in the given literature and development of the topic
• Consultation discussionsDiscussion of interim results, problems and definition of further work steps with the lecturers
• Main seminar lecturePresentation and subsequent discussion of the results in front of an audience
