AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn modern methods of biophysical chemistry and their theoretical foundations. With spectroscopic methods, light scattering, as well as methods for diffusion and sedimentation, you can characterize biomolecules in solution. In the end you will be able to quantitatively describe thermodynamic and kinetic processes such as binding and protein folding and to analyze and interpret correlating measurement data.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand theoretical principles of biophysical chemistry
  • Apply spectroscopic methods for characterizing biomolecules
  • Use light scattering, diffusion and sedimentation for macromolecules in solution
  • Quantitatively describe binding equilibria
  • Analyze thermodynamics and kinetics of protein folding
  • Quantitatively evaluate and interpret measurement data

What the module consists of
