What it is about

You will gain a broad overview of observational approaches to the universe: telescopes, experiments and methods from radio to gamma, neutrinos, cosmic radiation, meteorites and gravitational waves. In the end you will be able to assign physical processes in cosmic objects to the appropriate observation methods and categorize instruments as well as typical astrophysical questions.

What you will be able to do

• Assign physical processes of cosmic objects to the observation methods
• Describe the construction and critical components of telescopes from radio to gamma
• Understand instruments for dust, meteorites, cosmic radiation, gravitational waves and neutrinos
• Describe developmental stages of normal and exotic stars
• Explain physics of various high-energy events (explosions, accretion, bursts, mergers)
• Classify observational gaps of the universe within standard theories
