What it is about
You learn the fundamentals and applications of superconductivity from macroscopic-quantum-theoretical description to real circuits. The focus is on Josephson effects, SQUIDs and superconducting digital electronics (in particular RSFQ). In the end you will be able to explain the physical principles and apply them to weakly coupled superconductors, Josephson contacts as well as superconducting sensors and digital circuits.
What you will be able to do
- Describe and apply the physical fundamentals of superconducting electronics, sensing and quantum electronics
- Explain the macroscopic quantum model of superconductivity and use it for weakly coupled superconductors
- Explain and physically interpret Josephson effects
- Identify and explain the properties of Josephson contacts and SQUIDs
- Explain the operation of the Josephson voltage standard
- Describe the basics of superconducting digital electronics (e.g. RSFQ)
