Introduction into Patent, Trademark and Design Law for Engineers

What it is about

The module provides engineering students with a practice-oriented overview of industrial property rights (in particular patents, utility models, and designs) as well as fundamental aspects of copyright, customs law, and due diligence in M&A. You will learn which protection right fits technical questions, how to obtain, defend and enforce technical protection rights — with a focus on the patent system.

• Initial assessment of legal dispute and defense options
• Basic knowledge of design, trademark, and copyright aspects
• Fundamentals of customs measures against product piracy and due diligence in M&A
