What it is about
You learn physical and electrochemical fundamentals of solid-liquid interfaces that are relevant for energy conversion and storage processes (e.g., batteries, fuel cells, water electrolysis, supercapacitors). Topics include thermodynamics, microscopic structure of the interface, charge transfer kinetics and transport in the electrolyte, as well as modern methods for probing these interfaces. In the end you can apply these concepts to macroscopic electrodes, nano- and microelectrode arrays, and structured surfaces, and classify the learned measurement methods.
