Sustainable Urbanism Vertiefung

What it is about

You engage in inter- and transdisciplinary work on the sustainable development of city and countryside. In the module you develop practice-oriented, research-oriented depth in a semester project around a given thematic focus and at the end you can analyze complex questions, place them cross-disciplinarily and formulate initial syntheses for strategies and tools.

Identify complex questions of sustainable spatial development
Analyze in detail and describe scientifically
Classify one's own subject discipline in an inter-/transdisciplinary context
Communicate disciplinary concerns in the project environment
Evaluate spatial structures and organizational principles with regard to sustainability
Formulate and discuss strategies and tools for synthesis

Assessment

Project workPresentationScientific manuscript

The examination achievement is a thematically deepened project work or scientific manuscript (typically 10–12 A4 pages or drawing component) with subsequent presentation and discussion (at least 30 minutes). The written/drawing work documents analyses, evaluations and proposed strategies; the presentation demonstrates methodology, positioning and practical relevance. The written work accounts for 3/4 and the presentation for 1/4 of the overall grade. The work can be submitted in German or English. Information on deadlines and format will be announced at the first session.
