What it is about

You will learn the basics of remote sensing and how satellite data are used to study hydrological processes (e.g., precipitation, vegetation, evaporation, soil moisture, water levels, groundwater, snow/ice). By the end you will be able to understand, process, and integrate relevant satellite products into hydrological questions or modeling.

What you will be able to do

• Understand the principles of remote sensing and the generation of satellite-based hydrology products
• Process satellite data in different formats with ArcGIS, QGIS as well as Matlab/Python
• Evaluate the quality of satellite products and recognize influences on data quality
• Integrate satellite products into hydrological modeling to solve practical problems
