What it is about

You will learn core concepts, instruments and practices of international land management. The module conveys how to assess spatial‑legal‑social‑economic contexts and, on that basis, plan and evaluate suitable land interventions. In the end you will be able to compare different register and planning approaches internationally and present fundamental land management solutions.

What you will be able to do

• Represent land management as a combined scientific and applied discipline
• Explain principles of national legal systems and international guidelines (FAO, GLTN)
• Categorize and compare types of land registry systems
• Discuss opportunities and limits of common land intervention instruments
• Explain elements of the land administration paradigm and the data model
• Investigate variation of legal, social and physical aspects with geoinformation tools
• Describe a concrete land management problem and a solution
• Use Open‑Access repositories to analyze national cadastral and registration differences
• Compare international differences in land use planning
