AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn how to organize, distribute, store and analyze large data sets efficiently. In the end you will be able to apply distributed data storage concepts, Map/Reduce techniques and their applications (e.g. Hadoop, NoSQL), implement analysis algorithms for distributed data and assess optimization techniques.

What you will be able to do

  • Apply and characterize concepts of distributed data storage
  • Use, implement and evaluate analysis algorithms for very large, distributed data sets
  • Assess and combine techniques for optimizing analysis processes
  • Further develop optimized analysis processes for different data characteristics and system architectures
  • Understand societal relevance and data protection aspects of the techniques

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungDelivery of content through lectures, examples and discussions; serves as motivation for self-study
  • ÜbungExercise sheets for control and deepening; initially guided, later independent and group work; possibly project work for application

Teaching method

  • Vorlesungfor the introduction of concepts, with examples and discussions
  • Übungen mit Aufgabenblätternfor independent control and deepening of methods and concepts
  • Projektarbeit (optional)Application of lecture content to complex problems
