Political Regimes and the Economy

What it is about

You investigate how various political regimes (in particular autocratic ones) relate to economic factors. In the end you will be able to assess how regime types influence economic outcomes and how economic conditions shape the stability and development of regimes, as well as independently plan a research project on this topic.

• Understanding interactions between regime types and the economic environment
• Assessment of the effect of political regimes on growth, social development and education
• Analysis of institutional diversity and mechanisms of maintaining power in regimes
• Evaluation of how prosperity, inequality, openness and natural resources influence regime survival
• Development of an own research question and research designs in political economy
• Practical skills in data management, analysis, scientific writing and presentation
