Multi-level Governance

What it is about

You engage with the interplay of society, economy, politics and the environment at local, national, European and global levels. In the end you will be able to apply theory approaches and comparative methods for multi-level governance and to develop research questions or designs that have political relevance.

• Identify central concepts and theories of multi-level governance
• Analyze relationships between global economic activity and the environment at various levels
• Differentiate between different theoretical research approaches
• Apply methods of comparative analysis
• Design research designs for vertical and horizontal perspectives on governance
• Develop an understanding of how research can be politically relevant

What the module consists of

• SeminarTwo complementary seminars: one focusing on economic globalization and its environmental and social consequences, the other focusing on the local level (e.g., urbanization).
