What it is about

You will learn the physical, mathematical and algorithmic fundamentals of modern quantum technologies. The course introduces concepts such as interference, superposition and electronic waves as well as the corresponding mathematical descriptions. In the second half of the year you will apply programming skills to understand quantum algorithms and work with appropriate software packages. In the end you will be able to analyze the fundamental properties of quantum communication and perform simple experiments with quantum simulators.

What you will be able to do

  • Explain basics from mathematics, physics and computer science
  • Analyze mechanisms of quantum communication
  • Assess political/ethical implications of quantum technologies
  • Conduct own experiments with quantum simulators

What the module consists of

  • Online modules (every two weeks)Self-study phases with individual feedback
  • In-person sessionsLecture, discussion and practical exercises; emphasis on programming and problem solving

Teaching method

  • Blended LearningA combination of online and in-person phases so you can learn at your own pace and practice hands-on skills
  • Personalized feedbackRegular feedback during the online modules for learning control
