Digital Persons / Entities - Legal and Ethical Considerations

What it is about

In this module you will deal with legal and ethical questions surrounding digital persons/entities and AI. You will learn fundamentals of biological intelligence, relevant German civil law as well as fundamental rights principles, and you will learn how artificial neural networks (in particular Large Language Models) work. At the end you will be able to describe and discuss basic rights and human rights and how they could be applied to advanced AI systems.

• Describe the basics of fundamental rights in Germany and Europe
• Explain basic concepts of German civil law
• Regurgitate principles of biological intelligence and current AI concepts
• Present how artificial neural networks / LLMs work
• Discuss applying legal principles to future technical developments
• Develop regulatory concepts in the context of basic and human rights
