Field Seminar in Political Economy

What it is about

You will be introduced to international and comparative political economy and learn to analyze political and economic interrelations at national and global levels. The focus will be on applying concepts to three themed blocks: climate policy, technological transformation and geopolitical changes. In the end you will be able to summarize theoretical arguments, critically evaluate them and apply them to real-world problems.

Assessment

The module assessment consists of practical performance requirements (exercise work): 1) Reflection papers: you submit at least two (up to three) short papers of ~2 pages each (summary/critical engagement with a text and application to a current example). Weight: 40% (for three papers the two best count). 2) Presentation: presentation of one or more research papers including a case study, discussion; duration including discussion approx. 30 minutes. Weight: 40%. 3) Short In-Class-Test: 15 minutes, choice between two essay prompts, handwritten or printed notes allowed, no other aids. Weight: 20%. In general all tasks must be passed; exceptions only at the discretion of the instructor.
