What it is about

You learn how experimental methods are used in political science to investigate causal relationships. In the end you will be able to distinguish different experimental designs, independently program an online experiment, and analyze experimental data with R.

What the module consists of

  • two complementary seminarsThe first seminar part conveys fundamentals, literature discussion and criteria of good experimental designs; the second part is practically oriented with programming and data analysis.

  • Literature work and discussionfor critical engagement with experimental studies and for conveying theoretical criteria of good designs
  • Hands-on programming and data analysisfor practical implementation: develop your own online experiment and investigate experimental data with R
  • Media-supported teaching (videos, articles, whiteboard, flip chart, PowerPoint, exercises sheets)to support understanding, demonstration and practice
