What it is about

You will learn principles of position determination, navigation and trajectory estimation in simple and complex environments. The module covers sensors, coordinate systems, errors and biases, as well as methods for GNSS-, inertial- and multi-sensor navigation including SLAM and visual/lingual (Wi‑Fi, Lidar) procedures. In the end you will be able to apply fundamental positioning and navigation algorithms and assess their behavior in practical cases.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand principles of positioning and navigation
  • Understand relative and absolute localization from sensor data
  • Apply fundamentals in simple and complex environments
  • Evaluate algorithms for turn-by-turn guidance

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungTransmission of theoretical foundations and current research topics
  • ÜbungApplication of theory to concrete tasks with varying degrees of support

Teaching method

  • PräsentationenTransmission of theoretical content
  • Vorlesungs‑Tutorials mit BeispielenDeepening and application of concrete examples
  • Übungsaufgaben mit Unterstützung vor OrtPractical application of what has been learned
