AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

In this module you will learn how mechanical structures from reality are translated into mathematical models. You will get an overview of common models of structural mechanics (beams, bars, discs, plates, shells), their derivation on the continuum, and the weak formulation of the corresponding differential equations.

What you will be able to do

  • extract mechanical models from real systems
  • classify structures
  • mathematically describe structures
  • understand the fundamental mechanical behavior of tension/compression members, beams, discs, plates and shells

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungProvision of the theoretical foundations, derivations and model descriptions; content is transferred to the tablet-PC in a fill-in script
  • ÜbungCombining example problems and voluntary exercises for deepening

Teaching method

  • Vortrag mit Tablet-PC und Lückenskriptimportant content, formulas and derivations are recorded in writing and highlighted for inclusion in the script
  • Übungsaufgabenapplication and deepening of understanding through pre-calculated examples and voluntary tasks
