What it is about

You will learn the physical basics and the analysis of electrical circuits as well as electrical and magnetic fields. You will also gain insight into electrical machines, power semiconductors, DC-DC converters (e.g., Buck, Boost) and exemplary drive systems, so that you can understand and apply fundamental electrical drive components in an aerospace context.

What you will be able to do

  • Understanding of voltage, current and electric/magnetic fields
  • Analysis of linear electrical networks
  • Application to AC and three-phase systems
  • Fundamentals of the operation and construction of electrical machines
  • Knowledge of the principle of semiconductor devices and their use in converters

What the module consists of

  • LectureConveying the theoretical foundations through presentations and derivations
  • TutorialProblem solving to deepen knowledge; presentation and discussion of solution paths

Teaching method

  • Frontal teaching (Lecture)for systematic conveyance of the theoretical foundations
  • Work-based instruction in exercises (problem solving)for deeper understanding through repeated calculation and application of what has been learned
  • Online materials (slide collection, exercises, scripts)to support self-study and practice
