Englisch - Intensive Thesis Writers' Workshop C2

What it is about

You are working on your thesis and want to significantly improve your academic English. In the workshop we combine group seminars with individual advising conversations, so that you end up writing more clearly, precisely and more stylistically convincing academic English.

What you will be able to do

clearer and more precise written expression in English
strategies for effective academic writing in English
techniques for persuasive sentence constructions
establish cohesion within and between sentences
coherent paragraphs through targeted semantic and syntactic decisions

What you should already know

Schreiben einer Abschlussarbeit/Dissertation (Englisch)
Niveau: oberes C1 oder C2 (Nachweis: >75% im Englisch-Placement-Test auf moodle.tum.de)
Grundverständnis von grammatischen Begriffen (z.B. Wortarten, Subjekt, Prädikat, Objekt, Aktiv/Passiv, Nominalisierung)recommended

Assessment

Performance is assessed via a cumulative portfolio of competence- and action-oriented tasks. The assessment considers to what extent you show a clear improvement in your scientific writing skills and have implemented what was discussed in the workshop and during the individual consultations.
