What it is about

In this internship you work on practical tasks from the field of Orbital Robotics: multi-body systems, relative and absolute motions of spacecraft, manipulators and grasping maneuvers in orbit. At the end you will be able to analyze dynamic problems of spacecraft-manipulator systems, design proximity and capture maneuvers, and implement corresponding algorithms.

What you will be able to do

  • Analyze and solve orbital robotics problems and mission scenarios
  • Design and implement proximity maneuvers in translation and attitude for spacecraft-manipulator systems
  • Apply techniques for analyzing the dynamics of multi-body systems
  • Develop and use software functions in C, Python, Matlab or multi-body tools
  • Collaborate effectively in groups on projects
  • Gain experience with a hardware-in-the-loop test bed (subject to availability)
  • Communicate results in presentations, reports and code documentation

What the module consists of

  • PraktikumExecution of a series of increasingly complex calculation and implementation tasks; group or individual projects; possible hardware-in-the-loop demonstration
  • Übungen/ImplementierungsaufgabenDevelopment and use of own software functions and/or existing libraries to solve orbital robotics problems

Teaching method

  • In-person event with multimedia supportIntroduction of algorithms and implementation steps, exchange and demonstrations
  • Computational Tasks / Project workGradual application and implementation of techniques to practical tasks
  • Use of own laptops and software (C, Python, Matlab, multi-body tools)Hands-on implementation and testing of solutions
