What it is about
You learn how to formulate reliability analyses for real technical structures and systems, establish probabilistic models for loads and materials, and estimate failure probabilities. In the end you can apply various approximation methods and simulation techniques, create response surfaces and interpret results, as well as evaluate sensitivities and influence factors.
What you will be able to do
- Formulate reliability problem for real structures
- Establish probabilistic models for loads and materials
- Calculate failure probabilities with different approximation methods
- Create response surfaces (Response Surfaces) for coupled FEM analyses
- Assess the relative importance of random quantities
- Evaluate sensitivities with respect to model assumptions
- Update reliability estimates with observed data
- Conduct reliability-based optimization
