What it is about

In this module you work in a practical manner on electrophysiology, biosignal processing and modeling. You will learn to acquire EEG/EMG signals, pre-process and post-process them, as well as to develop and evaluate predictive classifiers for Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) applications.

What you will be able to do

• Carry out experiments for data acquisition with electrophysiological sensors independently
• Assess data quality and apply signal processing methods for information extraction
• Create and evaluate predictive models and classifiers with methods of pattern recognition and machine learning
• Independently work on a practical project and document the results in writing
• Present and defend the project before an expert committee

What the module consists of

• Tutorial / Spring SchoolDeepening of course content; short report (about 2 pages)
• TutoriumConveyance and assessment of central concepts such as preprocessing, segmentation, feature extraction and evaluation; report (about 2 pages)
• Praxisprojekt (Gruppenarbeit, bis zu 4 Studierende)Implementation of a BCI paradigm including data collection with EEG systems, implementation and evaluation; detailed project report (15–20 pages) and presentation/defense before an expert panel
