What it is about

You learn how to design and implement data structures for main memory and swapping so that they work truly fast and space-saving on modern hardware. The lecture conveys hardware fundamentals and shows optimizations for hash tables, search trees, tries and similar structures; in the end you can develop your own domain-specific variants and synchronize them in a scalable way for multi-core processors.

What you will be able to do

  • Design efficient and compact data structures
  • Implement domain-specific data structure variants
  • Optimize data structures for modern processor and memory architectures
  • Implement scalable synchronization for multi-core processors

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungPresentation of high-performance data structures and fundamentals of Data Structure Engineering
  • Aufgaben zur SelbststudieDeepening of lecture content and practice in implementing independent data structures

Teaching method

  • Vorlesung mit Folien oder Whiteboardconveys existing high-performance data structures and fundamental principles
  • Selbstständige Übungsaufgabenserve to deepen understanding and practically implement own data structures
