AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn fundamental concepts and methods for physical simulation, such as animation techniques, rigid body simulation, collision handling, particle systems, as well as fundamentals of elasticity and fluid simulation. In the end you will be able to select appropriate physical models, perform the corresponding calculations, and implement simulation algorithms for integration into real-time systems — including implementation in C++.

What you will be able to do

  • Knowledge of physical models to describe real phenomena
  • Evaluation and selection of suitable models for algorithmic implementation
  • Carrying out necessary computations for simulation algorithms
  • Algorithmic description of solution procedures for real-time applications
  • Implementation of simulation algorithms and integration techniques in C++

What the module consists of

  • VorlesungDelivery of fundamentals with slides, board work and demonstrations
  • Selbststudium/ProgrammieraufgabenFour programming tasks to deepen the content
  • Übungen (freiwillig)Four exercises to demonstrate understanding and implementation ability (integration methods, rigid-body simulations, collision detection, free final project)

Teaching method

  • VorlesungenIntroduction and explanation of the theory, supported by slides, board work and demonstrations
  • Programmieraufgaben/SelbststudiumPractical application and deepening of the lecture content
  • Übungen (freiwillig)Assessment of understanding of central algorithms and implementation practice in C++
