What it is about

You will learn the theoretical foundations of Network Coding and its practical applications. In the end you will be able to analyze network-coding concepts, practically implement RLNC and deploy it in transport- or link-layer protocols, as well as perform basic socket programming.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand the fundamentals of Network Coding
  • Apply Min-Cut/Max-Flow and flow formulation
  • Implement and use Random Linear Network Coding (RLNC)
  • Apply concepts for error handling: ARQ, FEC and acknowledgment procedures
  • Combine Network Coding across different layers (Link, Transport)
  • Socket programming and handling IEEE 802.11 Raw-Sockets
  • Consider protocols for channel estimation and window/acknowledgment procedures
