AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will receive a broad introduction to networked mobile systems: from mobility models and simulations to wireless networking technologies and architectures, protocols, measurements as well as security and data protection aspects. In the end you will be able to name the fundamental building blocks of mobile systems, understand the relevant technical questions, and work on simple design, modeling, and evaluation tasks for mobile services.

What you will be able to do

  • Name fundamental elements of networked mobile systems
  • Understand technical problems in the design and evaluation of mobile systems
  • Recognize challenges posed by mobility and mobile networking
  • Know the limitations and requirements of simulations-based evaluation
  • Overview of components and techniques for implementing mobile services
  • Understand the principles of relevant methods and apply them to simple cases

What the module consists of

  • Lecture (in-person, 4 hours)Conveying the theoretical content and concepts
  • Exercises (in-person, 2 hours)Application of the concepts in practical and theoretical tasks; preparation for the exam
  • HomeworkDeepening and self-check of what has been learned

Teaching method

  • Blended LearningCombination of in-person lectures, in-person exercises and supplementary tasks to promote understanding and practice
