What it is about

You learn how parallel programming models are efficiently implemented and how compilers and runtimes map these models to real multi-core architectures. In the end you will know how fundamental algorithms and mechanisms (e.g. locks, barriers, scheduling) work and how they interact with processor architectures, illustrated by the Intel architecture.

What you will be able to do

  • Fundamentals of efficient implementation of parallel programming languages and models
  • Understanding of the interaction between runtime environment and hardware
  • Knowledge of fundamental algorithms for parallel mechanisms (locks, barriers, …)
