AI-edited module sheet. Based on the TUMonline module description, edited for readability.Original in TUMonline

What it is about

You will learn mathematical tools and solution strategies for inverse problems in medical imaging. In the end you will be able to theoretically analyze inverse problems, design experimentally and implement practically, as well as assess algorithms for reconstruction and regularization.

What you will be able to do

  • Understand fundamentals of inverse problems
  • Analyze linear and non-linear inverse problems
  • Apply singular value decomposition and eigenvalue problems
  • Compare and apply regularization methods
  • Implement algorithms for CT reconstruction (Radon, Filtered Backprojection)
  • Design and program practical solutions experimentally

What the module consists of

  • LectureConveying the theoretical foundations and mathematical concepts
  • Practical exercises/problemsApplication of theory in six problem sheets with programming and theory questions

Teaching method

  • Interactive LectureIntroduction and discussion of theory in interaction with students
  • theoretical and practical ExercisesDeepening the material through assignments and implementation
